Angela is a Professor in marine ecology/marine botany at the department of Biological and Environmental sciences at University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
Her main research interests are ecophysiology of microalgae in sub-polar and polar areas, focusing on diatoms. Sustainable cultivation of diatoms and applications of biogenic silica preferably with circular economy concepts are high priorities and she is idea provider and co-founder of Swedish Algae Factory. She participates in several initiatives to encourage and inspire towards the “triple helix model” (collaboration between university, business and the public sector).
