Ida Velle Myking

PhD candidate and ambassador UiO

About

Ida is the student ambassador for UiO. She has a masters degree in Genetics and Developmental biology from UiO, focused on seed development in Arabidopsis thaliana. Her PhD project revolves around the endosperm-based post-zygotic hybrid barrier (ePZB), a mechanism to prevent hybridisation between to species of flowering plants by a deleterious shift in the timing of endosperm development. However, the genetic network regulating the ePZB remains obscure. Through her project she aim to elucidate on its genetic basis, and how it is influenced by genomic imprinting as well as abiotic factors such as temperature.
