Jacob is a PhD student in microalgal biotechnology at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science at UiT. With his background in genetic engineering of green microalgae, he conducts research on enabling a marine arctic algae to degrade plastic waste and accumulate environmentally friendly bioplastic at the same time. He applies state of the art genetic tools and use his knowledge in CRISPR/Cas-based pathway manipulation for enhanced strain performance.
