Francesco is a PhD student at NORD university studying the ecology and dispersal characteristics of Vaccinium myrtillus (the common shrub we all know and love, commonly called bilberry). The plan for his PhD is to understand the surprising rarity of sexual reproduction in this plant that mostly spreads clonally, yet still produces abundant seed and fruit biomass. Additionally, he plans to employ biomolecular tools to quantify the frequence of long distance endozoochorous dispersal carried out by passerine birds
