Leo is a PhD candidate at Nord University in the Algae and Microbial Biotechnology division. He originally trained in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Burgundy (France) before specialising in the sustainable production and utilisation of marine bioresources (Nord University), with a particular focus on seaweed. His research experience spans plant and algal ecophysiology, genetics, and biotechnology. In his PhD project, he is investigating kelp–pathogen interactions at the molecular level and developing immune‑priming strategies to enhance disease tolerance in cultivated sugar kelp
