Our former member Griffin Hill will hold a webinar about his new workplace Norwegian institute for water research (NIVA) to give insight into working in the institute sector.
The Norwegian Institute for Water Research, or Norsk Institutt for Vannforskning, (NIVA) is one of Norway’s most active environmental research institutes focusing on water issues from lakes and streams all the way to fjords and the open ocean. With an emphasis on environmental monitoring alongside cutting-edge academic research, NIVA tackles questions related to climate change, pollution, resource management, aquaculture, and much more throughout Norway.
Having recently navigated the transition from PhD to Post-Doc (defended September 2025, started at NIVA October 2025), Griffin Hill will share the similarities and differences between working in these roles as well as what he learned through the application process. He hopes to shed some light on a period that is a source of stress for many PhDs and will be happy to answer any questions or generally discuss this transition that many Photosyntech members may be undertaking or about to navigate.
